The International OCEAN FILM TOUR Team
INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR EDUCATION PROGRAM
Our unique education program is made available, at no additional cost, to area middle/high schools, due to the generous support of each local host. These playlists are a curated program made up of short films or special tour edits (total running time of 45 to 75 minutes) focused on educating, and inspiring students and faculty about current environmental issues facing our global society. The films are accompanied by educational materials for teachers to incorporate into teaching lessons either before or after the screening. These materials will be made available via web download and include a more, in depth look at relevant, conservation topics.
If you are an educator, or otherwise affiliated with an area school in a city where we are scheduled to play, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate an Education Program screening. Don’t see your city on our tour schedule? Consider reaching out to a local non-profit, theater, aquarium or corporate sponsor and ask them to bring the International Ocean Film Tour to town!
Frequently Asked Questions
1. CAN I HOST MY OWN INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR SCREENING?
Yes. International Ocean Film Tour events are locally-hosted screenings run by local businesses, theaters, NGOs, retail shops, environmental organizations and even individuals who have entrepreneurial spirit.
2. WILL SOMEONE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR COME TO HELP ME HOST?
Yes, all events are co-hosted by our US- based team. We will support you with our vast expertise in hosting film tours and promote the screening via our Ocean Lovers community on Facebook & Instagram. The program will be delivered via digital file on a Macbook. Our emcee will travel to each show and help you set-up a great event for all of your visitors!
3. DOES IT COST MONEY?
Yes. We charge a license fee to screen the International OCEAN FILM TOUR program, which can vary depending on the venue size, ticket price, purpose and location.
4. WHERE CAN I SCREEN THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR?
Screenings can be held in a number of places including, but not limited to: Local theaters, auditoriums, breweries, schools and other event venues in your city. Host is responsible for all venue rental costs, including a digital projector and sound system.
5. WHEN CAN I HOST THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR?
Hosts can request to schedule shows anytime between April 1 and December 15. Screenings scheduled over any holiday period may incur a higher fee.
6. GIVE ME A REASON TO HOST A SHOW. WILL I MAKE MONEY?
We want all of our shows to be entertaining community events, and to meet the local organiser’s goals, whether that’s to turn a profit, to raise money for charity, or to provide free entertainment for members and customers. The only payment you will make is the licensing fee to screen the program. After that, the financial model will depend on the type of show you host. Will you be renting a venue? Will you be paying for a projector? What will you be charging for ticket prices, if anything? Many show hosts will pay for posters and tickets to be printed as well. The iOFT Team will help achieve your goals in every way possible.
7. CAN I FIND LOCAL SPONSORS?
Yes. Local sponsors are a great way to help cover the licensing fee. Sponsors who directly compete with THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR’s national sponsors will not be accepted, but local businesses, retail shops and other organizations are often excited to contribute to the fee and/or sell tickets, promote, etc. Your US-based iOFT Team will be able to let you know of any conflicts with national sponsors.
8. CAN I HOST THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM TOUR AS A FUNDRAISER?
9. ARE THE FILMS RATED?
The films are not officially rated, however, and may contain occasional adult language. We are happy to provide you with a censored version of the films upon request.
